The Movie "The Secret" Missed the Point?

I just got this email from a great friend of mine living on Maui Who Just attended a seminar by Dr. Demartini from “The Secret”.

Howzit?

I just attended a Dr. Demartini (from The Secret) seminar and it was
pretty much the shit. I thought of you the entire time because he is so
closely attuned to many of the truths that you know and understand in your
own life.

The basic idea is that we live in a world where positive and negative are
inseparable. The idea that we can create more positive than negative is a
fantasy. Negative, painful, and sometimes horrendous events are the way in
which the universe is trying to break our addiction to that fantasy — to
show us the divinity that is present in the fusion of the polarities. He
basically shot down the Secret, pointing out that it sells and people get
excited because they want so badly to live in the fantasy that we can have
more pleasure than pain, more peace than war, more building than destroying.
He also mentioned that after it came out the two producers of the movie
attended one of his seminars and said, “oops.” One of the producers was
moved enough to immediately begin a new movie project called, I think, “The
Dream.”

Anyways, it was freeing. The seminar was dedicated to equilibrating the
mind, experiencing the feeling of gratitude and love that exists in that
moment, and ascending into the next vibrational level from that. From
equilibrium arises gratitude, love, and inspiration — not to be confused
with passion — which is chasing a fantasy that never has more joy than
sorrow, more pleasure than pain. The concentrated focus was to absolve
situations that happened in the past, by seeing the divine balance, and
being grateful for that moment in time. No matter how much pain you
experienced, there was balance in that moment. No matter how negative you
perceived it, no matter how much loss you felt, an equal amount was gained.
This point of realization is what balances the mind on both perspectives,
and a feeling of deep gratitude, perfection, and appreciation for the
“higher power” that governs the universe emerges.

Makes sense because everything has to be a balance. In other words there is no way to have only positive, warm fuzzies, without suffering. And vice versa, you can’t have suffering without positive result (whether you see it and understand it is a different story). True power comes in realizing that positive and negative are very much intertwined and it almost seems that it is the intensity/magnitude of the event that matters when it comes to growth, bigger and greater things in life. And people’s different triggers for what is intense, create uniqueness and flava in dealing with other people.

In so many words “Go Big or Go Home”
